How Many Skin Booster Sessions Do You Actually Need?

Updated: Sep 1
It's one of the most common questions we get asked at consultation: "how many sessions will I actually need?" The honest answer is that it depends on your skin, but there's a general pattern most clients follow - and knowing it upfront makes it much easier to plan (and budget) for.
Why Skin Boosters Aren't a One-Session Fix
Skin boosters work by delivering hyaluronic acid into the deeper layers of the skin to improve hydration, texture and elasticity over time. Unlike a treatment designed for an instant, dramatic change, skin boosters work with your skin's own processes - which means results build gradually rather than appearing all at once. That's actually part of what makes them so effective long-term: they're improving the underlying quality of your skin, not just masking the surface for a few weeks.
The Typical Starting Course
For most clients starting skin boosters for the first time, we recommend an initial course of around 2-3 sessions, spaced roughly 3-4 weeks apart. This spacing gives your skin time to respond to each treatment before the next one builds on it, allowing hydration and skin quality to improve progressively rather than trying to achieve everything in one go. Many clients notice an initial glow within days of their first session, but the fuller improvement in texture, tone and hydration tends to develop across the full course.
What Happens After the Initial Course?
Once you've completed your starting sessions, most clients move to a maintenance schedule of one session every 3-6 months, depending on your skin, lifestyle and how your results are holding. Some clients prefer more frequent top-ups if they're particularly focused on hydration; others find results last comfortably towards the six-month mark before they notice any dip.
Maintenance sessions are typically quicker and more straightforward than the initial course, since you're topping up existing results rather than starting from scratch.
What Affects How Many Sessions You'll Need?
A few things influence where you'll sit within this range:
Your starting skin condition - more dehydrated, dull or textured skin often benefits from sticking closer to 3 sessions initially rather than 2
Your age and skin type - skin naturally loses hydration and elasticity over time, so needs can shift as you get older
Your goals - general hydration and glow maintenance needs less frequent treatment than addressing more noticeable fine lines or textural concerns
Lifestyle factors - sun exposure, hydration habits and skincare routine all affect how long results last between sessions
This is exactly why we don't recommend a generic session count without a consultation first - what works for one client's skin won't necessarily be right for another's.
Can You Combine Skin Boosters with Other Treatments?
Yes, and it's common. Skin boosters are often paired with treatments like polynucleotides or PRP & PRF facial rejuvenation for clients wanting a more comprehensive approach to skin quality, particularly if collagen support or specific concerns like under-eye hollowing are also a priority. During your consultation, we'll advise whether a combination plan makes sense for your skin.
