What are Skin Boosters?

Skin boosters are injectable treatments designed to improve skin quality, rather than change facial shape or add obvious volume.

They usually contain hydrating ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, and some also contain amino acids, antioxidants, vitamins or regenerative complexes that support collagen, elasticity and skin repair.

Skin boosters can be used to improve:

  • Dull or tired-looking skin

  • Dehydration

  • Fine lines

  • Crepey skin

  • Under-eye skin quality

  • Loss of glow

  • Skin texture

  • Early signs of ageing

  • Neck, décolletage and hand ageing

Unlike dermal filler, skin boosters are not used to sculpt or reshape the face. Their purpose is to improve how the skin looks and feels.

Skin boosters for hydration and glow

If your skin looks tired, flat or dehydrated, a hydration-focused skin booster can help restore a fresher, more luminous appearance. At Cheshire MediGlow, we may recommend options such as Profhilo, Seventy Hyal, NCTF 135 HA, Redensity 1 or Teoxane babyGLOW™ depending on your skin and goals.

Profhilo is one of the most popular injectable skin treatments for clients wanting hydration, glow and improved skin quality without looking “filled”.

Seventy Hyal is often chosen for clients wanting fresh, hydrated and radiant skin with a soft glow.

NCTF 135 HA, often known as the Chanel skin booster, is ideal for hydration, radiance and overall skin freshness.

Redensity 1 can help improve hydration, texture and luminosity, and is used within the Teoxane babyGLOW™ protocol for full-face radiance and skin quality.

This type of treatment is especially popular before weddings, holidays, birthdays, photoshoots and special events, where the aim is glowing, camera-ready skin.

Skin boosters for under-eyes

Best for crepiness, fine lines, tired-looking eyes and thin skin

The under-eye area is delicate and often shows early signs of tiredness, dehydration, thinning and fine lines. Under-eye skin boosters are designed to improve skin quality rather than add heavy volume.

At Cheshire MediGlow, we may recommend Sunekos Performa, Jalupro Young Eye, Redensity 1 or NCTF 135 depending on the concern.

Sunekos Performa and Jalupro Young Eye are based around amino acid replacement therapy, helping support collagen and elastin production for clients concerned about crepiness, laxity and fine lines.

Redensity 1 may be used to support under-eye hydration, brightness and overall skin quality.

NCTF 135 can also be used as part of the BeautiEye® approach, supporting hydration, glow and tired-looking under-eyes.

For more advanced regenerative under-eye support, we may also discuss polynucleotides or PRF depending on your skin and treatment goals.

Skin boosters for lips

Best for hydration, softness and subtle lip rejuvenation

Lip boosters are hydration-focused microinjections placed within the lips to improve deep hydration, softness, surface smoothness and overall lip quality, without aiming to create obvious filler volume or change your natural lip shape.

They are ideal for clients with chronically dry or chapped lips, rough or crepey lip texture, lipstick that clings to fine lines, smoker’s lines, lipstick bleeding, or lips that feel tight and dehydrated despite using balms. Many clients notice improved comfort, a healthier-looking sheen and subtle refinement of fine vertical lip lines over time.

If you have had previous lip filler, you can usually still have a lip booster once the filler has fully settled.

As a general guide, we recommend leaving at least 2 to 4 weeks between lip filler and lip booster treatment in the same area, although we may advise waiting longer if there is ongoing swelling, tenderness, bruising, recent dissolving or correction work.

Skin boosters for crepey and ageing skin

As the skin becomes thinner or less elastic, you may notice crepiness, fine lines, cheek creasing, accordion lines around the sides of the mouth, smile lines, or a general loss of firmness.

For crepey or ageing skin, we may recommend Profhilo Structura, Stylage HydroMax, Sunekos, Jalupro Super Hydro or Restylane Vital, depending on whether your main concern is hydration, laxity, collagen support or fine lines.

Profhilo Structura is often selected for clients wanting deeper skin support and improved quality in ageing or laxity-prone areas.

Stylage HydroMax can help improve hydration, elasticity and skin smoothness, especially in dehydrated or mature skin.

A Sunekos full protocol, combining Sunekos 1200 and Sunekos Performa where suitable, can support collagen and elastin production using amino acid replacement therapy. This may be helpful for clients concerned about skin laxity, crepiness and deeper support.

Jalupro Super Hydro is another strong option for hydration, collagen support, firmness and mature skin quality.

Restylane Vital may be considered for areas such as smile lines, accordion lines and cheek creasing where skin quality and fine lines are the main concern.

Certain regenerative skin boosters may also help support skin texture, post-acne skin quality and crepey or dehydrated skin, particularly when combined with treatments such as microneedling. For more advanced regenerative support, polynucleotides may also be discussed during consultation.

This vs That

Skin boosters vs dermal filler

Skin boosters and dermal fillers are often confused, but they are not the same.

Skin boosters improve hydration, glow, texture and skin quality. They are ideal if you want your skin to look fresher, smoother and more radiant without changing your facial structure.

Dermal fillers are used to add volume, contour or structure to areas such as the lips, cheeks, chin or jawline.

If you are worried about looking overfilled or unnatural, skin boosters can be a beautiful option because they focus on improving the skin itself rather than altering your features.

Skin boosters vs polynucleotides

Skin boosters and polynucleotides can both improve skin quality, but they work differently.

Skin boosters are usually best for hydration, glow, fine lines and improving the feel and appearance of the skin.

Polynucleotides are more regenerative and are often chosen for skin repair, inflammation, crepiness, under-eye concerns and longer-term skin quality improvement.

In some cases, both can be used within a treatment plan. For example, a skin booster may be chosen for hydration and glow, while polynucleotides may be recommended for deeper repair or regenerative support.

Profhilo vs Profhilo Structura: What’s the Difference?

Profhilo is usually chosen for overall skin hydration, glow and improved skin quality. It is ideal for clients with dull, dehydrated or crepey skin who want a fresher, more radiant appearance without adding volume.

Profhilo Structura is designed for clients with more visible age-related skin changes, particularly where there is facial thinning, laxity or loss of support. It is often used when the aim is not just hydration, but deeper structural support and improved firmness.

In simple terms, Profhilo is best for hydration and glow, while Profhilo Structura is better suited to ageing skin, laxity and deeper skin support. During your consultation at Cheshire MediGlow in Altrincham near Manchester, we can advise which option is most suitable for your skin and goals.
