How does LLLT Work?

LLLT (Low-Level Laser Therapy) works through photobiomodulation, a process in which low-level red light, typically in the 650–680 nm range penetrates the scalp to stimulate cellular energy (ATP) production in hair follicle stem cells. This light therapy also increases the expression of growth factors such as VEGF and IGF-1, which are vital for healthy follicle development. Additionally, LLLT enhances blood flow and oxygen delivery to the scalp, creating an optimal environment for hair regrowth, while also reducing inflammation that can lead to follicle miniaturisation and shedding. As a result, dormant follicles are encouraged to re-enter the active anagen (growth) phase of the hair cycle, leading to visibly stronger, thicker hair over time.
